{Craft Workshop} The DIY Bride

It's that time of the year again! :) The DIY Bride workshop is now open for registration.

I'm soooooo excited because this is my first workshop for the year! Yey! Similar to my previous workshops as seen here and here, I'll be teaching brides (non-brides are very much welcome to join as well!) to make different styles of paper and fabric flowers. This will be the basic for making bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, headbands, etc.

Hope you can join me! :) Click on the link to register: bit.ly/TheDIYBride

See you loves! :)

The DIY Bride Workshop

A couple of weeks ago, at a quaint tea shop on Maginhawa Street, 10 girls met, made pretty things by hand, had fun, and drank yummy milk tea. :) This aptly summarizes The DIY Bride Workshop last June 21.

The workshop started early. It was a warm and sunny Saturday morning, a perfect time to mingle and learn a thing or two about arts and crafts. As always, everybody was very friendly, giggly, and excited. After all, not only was the workshop intended to teach handmade wedding details, it was also a venue to meet acquaintances and make new friends.

Each participant received a kit filled with craft materials such as pretty cotton fabrics, lace fabrics, garterized and hard headbands, alligator clips, brooch pins, covered buttons, rhinestones and embellishments, scrapbook papers, and a lot more.

It was indeed a busy morning. Everyone was enthusiastic to try and make as I teach them techniques I learned over the years. The girls made 3 different styles of fabric flowers and a paper flower. I showed them the basics of making headbands, boutonnieres, bouquets, wedding garters, and corsages. To encourage them more to make and create, I also shared tips on preparing a DIY wedding and where to source craft materials.

It was a surprise that 8 of these lovely ladies came from the south, as far as Cavite, Batangas and Mindoro! You don't know how happy and touched I am that you traveled far and shared your precious time. It was such an honor to be your teacher. :)

To Sam, Hannah, Ahzel, Yela, Prim, Charie, Vine, Jen, and Boni, it was a pleasure crafting with you!

Until we see again, all the best! :)

Much love,
Koni

P.S.

Gratitude to the talented Ella Lama, for our pretty poster and for giving our participants a 10% discount on customized wedding invitation suite, to Tea Please, our venue partner.

I never would have done this without the love and support of my better half, thank you Mr. Esteban! Of course, to the Almighty Father for always letting the universe conspire to help us achieve our dreams. :)

The DIY Bride Workshop

I've completed one item in my bucket list! Hooray for taking chances and following ones' heart!!! Last May 25, I conducted The DIY Bride workshop at my favorite craft store, Lasting Impression. With an excitement I can't contain, I met happy and wonderful ladies who were eager to learn crafts. Everybody greeted everyone with a friendly smile.

We started the workshop by making lace headbands for flower girls and/or entourage.

Craft lesson #1: Be in the zone and always get your game face on.

Next project was to make your own wedding garter.

Craft lesson # 2: Always be careful when sewing, use a thimble if possible.

Yarn pompom was next. The colors are soooo pretty! The pop of different hues gave us even more inspiration. :)

Craft lesson #3: Don't overlook simple materials. It is from simple things that beauty grows.

This is me doing yarn pompoms arrangement ala Candidly Pretty. And oh yes, I'm proud to wear the headband I made!

Perhaps this is the most tedious of all the crafts we did - the kudusama flower.

Craft lesson #4: Paper is pretty. Paper is lovely but it can cut, oooh that's an ouchie!

These is us all giggly! Funny how I can still hear our chuckles just by looking at this photo.

It was a very productive day. Thank you ladies for sharing your precious time. I hope that what you learned will inspire you to make and create.

Gratitude to the Lord for giving me the courage to take chances,  trust my instincts, and follow my heart. None of this will be possible if not for the love and support of my husband. Thank you Mr. Esteban! And as always, the photos you took are beautiful. Cheers to my friends, Ella for hand-painting the poster and participants' canvass bags and Geli for the yummy Red Velvet cupcakes!!!

Until the next workshop! :)

{Intimate Event} Mon & Jho

Meeting Mon and Jho for the first time was like catching up with old friends. Over cheese rolls and sangria, the couple shared how important music is to their lives. Mon loves playing musical instruments and Jho's voice is that of an angel's. It was important that their boutonnieres and corsages are music-inspired. With that in mind, I happily wore my crafting hat and gathered materials to create these :)

It was a joy working with these love birds. Congratulations Mon and Jho! May the Lord continue to fill your lives with blessings and happiness.

Cheers to creating more symphonies of love!

{DIY Love} Fabric Flower Garter

Hi lovelies! It's been quite a while since my last DIY tutorial post. Work and crafting has been extra challenging to balance lately. But I'm back and very excited to teach you how to make a fabric flower garter for your wedding day. Let’s get our hands busy shall we?

There are the materials you will need:

- strip of satin fabric
- elastic lace ribbon
- embellishment such as old buttons, rhinestones or gems
- scissors
- glue gun
- needle and thread
- felt cloth

Step 1: Sew a basic running stitch along the edge of the satin fabric strip.

Step 2: Pull the thread and bring both ends of the fabric strip together. This will create ruffles forming
the flower. Secure by stitching a knot.

Step 3: Hot glue the rhinestone on the fabric flower.

Step 4: With a small piece of felt cloth, hot glue both ends of the elastic lace ribbon as such.

Step 5: Secure the fabric flower on the felt cloth and elastic lace ribbon using a glue gun.

There you have it – an easy and pretty project to bring out the crafty bride in you! Until the next tutorial,
ciao!
